Partnerships Designed to Make Analytics on Hadoop More Consumable, Accessible

Cupertino, CA – November 15, 2011 – Karmasphere™, a Big Data Intelligence company, continues to build out its partnership strategy, designed to make Karmasphere and Big Data Analytics pervasive through a variety of distributions. Since early October, Karmasphere has announced expanded strategic partnerships and Apache Hadoop distribution support with Amazon Web Services, Cloudera, and IBM. In addition this week, Karmasphere announced a new partnership with Hortonworks, in support of the launch of their Apache Hadoop distribution.

“By integrating our software with major Hadoop distributions, both on-premise and cloud, we demonstrate our commitment to making Big Data Analytics accessible to the broader enterprise computing market, encompassing large companies as well as mid-size to small organizations.” said Gail Ennis, chief executive of Karmasphere.  “Deriving business insights from Big Data is the next competitive advantage and our goal is to make Big Data analysis more consumable and ubiquitous.”

Karmasphere is now the most widely available analytics solution for Hadoop. It supports all the major distributions and will continue to do so, with more announcements to come.

In mid-October, Karmasphere announced a quick-start Hadoop Virtual Appliance for analytics on IBM InfoSphere BigInsights, IBM’s Apache Hadoop distribution and analytics solution. The free Karmasphere Hadoop Virtual Appliance helps IBM customers mine and analyze web, mobile, sensor and social media data in Hadoop, and get started quickly bringing new value to their business.

In early November, Karmasphere expanded its relationship with Amazon Web Services by announcing “Pay-As-You-Go” Big Data Analytics with an integrated Karmasphere Analytics and Amazon Elastic MapReduce cloud offering.  Customers benefit from a low cost of entry, no product lock-in, and a single payment process through Amazon Web Services.

Last week, Karmasphere and Cloudera announced a strategic partnership with a mutual commitment to the integration and interoperability of their products for existing and new joint customers. As part of the alliance, Karmasphere has validated that its products are compatible with the latest Cloudera Distribution (CDH). Karmasphere joins a select group of companies that qualify as Cloudera Certified Technology providers, testing and validating that Karmasphere Analystand Karmasphere Studio use supported APIs and comply with Cloudera development guidelines for integration with Apache Hadoop.  A visible outcome of the partnership is Karmasphere’s fast start Virtual Appliance environment for Cloudera CDH.

Earlier this week, Karmasphere’s announced its partnership with Hortonworks in support of their newly launched Apache Hadoop distribution. Karmasphere is also joining the Hortonworks partner program and will optimize Karmasphere products for Hortonworks Hadoop.

The Karmasphere Big Data Analytics product line includes Karmasphere Analyst, which provides data analysts immediate entry to structured and unstructured data on Hadoop, through SQL and other familiar languages, so that they can make ad-hoc queries, interact with the results, and iterate – without the aid of IT. Karmasphere Studioprovides developers that support analytic teams a graphical environment to learn Hadoop, develop custom analytic algorithms and systematize the creation of meaningful datasets the analysts find so that their results can be integrated into business processes and applications.

Karmasphere Analyst and Karmasphere Studio are available from the partners listed above or on the Karmasphere website at http://karmasphere.com/downloads.
