Brings Deep Executive-Level Sales and Marketing Expertise in Helping Customers Use Data for Competitive Advantage

Menlo Park, CA—May 26, 2010 –Karmasphere™, a big data intelligence software company bringing Apache Hadoop power to developers and analysts, today announced that Gail Ennis, formerly chief marketing officer  at Omniture (now an Adobe company), has joined the Karmasphere board of directors. Ennis joins board members Martin Hall, co-founder and CEO of Karmasphere, Ann Winblad, managing director at Hummer Winblad, and David Liddle, partner at USVP.

Ennis, a 20-year technology industry veteran, brings to Karmasphere deep domain expertise and executive-level leadership in scaling successful, high-growth, global technology companies. Ennis served as CMO of Omniture for close to five years, helping grow the company from $20 million to over $350 million in the highly dynamic on- demand web analytics and online marketing industry. In addition to aggressive demand generation and community building initiatives, she also led the company’s launch of the Online Marketing Suite, the industry’s first integrated solution for data-driven marketing customer acquisition and conversion.

Earlier in her career Ennis held executive sales, marketing and business development positions at BEA Systems, Oracle Corporation and Pyramid Technology. Ennis holds a BS in Molecular Biology from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pa.

“Gail knows first-hand what our customers are dealing with as  they begin to sort through massive amounts of data, and she knows how to bring enterprise-class solutions to market that will address their needs and drive new opportunities,” said Martin Hall, co-founder and CEO of Karmasphere.

“Gail brings to Karmasphere the ideal blend of traditional enterprise software expertise and the new on-demand high velocity marketing, sales and growth strategies. This combination, in addition to her unique insights in the web analytics and database industry, will be invaluable to Karmasphere as they continue to forge new ground in Hadoop analytics for big data,” said  Winblad.

“My experience has been in industries where customers are trying to uncover the intelligence locked inside of their data. I know that we need friendlier tools for business people to use to harness information in effective and practical ways. Karmasphere is poised to break this market open and I’m excited to be part of that,” said Ennis.
