Former Omniture Executive Gail Ennis Appointed As CEO Of Karmasphere
CUPERTINO, Calif.–Karmasphere™, a leader in Big Data Intelligence software, today announced the appointment of technology industry veteran and Karmasphere board member Gail Ennis as chief executive officer of the company, effective immediately. Ennis was most recently the chief marketing officer (CMO) at Omniture, a leading SaaS web analytics and online business optimization company, acquired by Adobe for $1.8 billion.
Ennis, a 25-year technology industry veteran, brings to Karmasphere deep domain expertise and executive-level leadership at high-growth, global technology companies. Her experience reflects a blend of traditional enterprise software with on-demand, Cloud and SaaS to quickly penetrate markets with innovative products, sales and marketing models. She will guide Karmasphere as the company is poised for rapid growth and expansion in the emerging arena of Big Data analytics.
“Karmasphere will greatly benefit from Gail’s experience and success in scaling high-growth technology companies,” said Martin Hall, Karmasphere EVP corporate development, founder and board chairman. “The market for Big Data analytics is poised for significant growth and Karmasphere is a leader in understanding and delivering solutions for developers and analysts. Gail’s experience and skills mix, from her background in analytics, middleware and database, make her uniquely suited to take Karmasphere to the next phase of its expansion and growth.”
Ennis’ achievements include helping grow Omniture from $30 million in revenues to more than $350 million in the dynamic on-demand web analytics and online marketing industry. In addition to developing key sales development strategies, aggressive demand generation and community building initiatives, she also led the company’s launch of its Online Marketing Suite, unifying a portfolio of organic and acquired products with partner applications to provide the industry’s first integrated solution for data-driven digital marketing, establishing a new software marketing category.
As a vice-president at BEA when it grew from $250,000 to $1billion, Ennis was responsible for driving significant revenues through SI, OEM and ISV channels. She later headed up the product marketing, sales enablement and go-to-market strategy for BEA’s Commerce Server division, formed to accelerate sales of its flagship product WebLogic, the industry’s most successful application server. She also created the company’s first industry-solutions program, enabling BEA sales teams to more successfully penetrate larger, vertically oriented opportunities.
Earlier in her career, Ennis held executive sales, marketing and business development positions at Oracle Corporation and Pyramid Technology. She holds a BS in Molecular Biology from Temple University in Philadelphia.
“Karmasphere is so compelling because it’s right at the heart of how companies will unlock the value of data going forward,” said Gail Ennis. “My career has been focused on helping organizations better use data. Big Data is a significant opportunity and there is a need to create innovative solutions for developers and analysts. Industry standards such as Hadoop are rapidly being accepted in the enterprise.
