Hardware Requirements

Recommended minimum of 4GB of RAM memory.
Software Requirements
JDK 6 Needs Java JDK 6 installed prior to installing.

NOTE: If using a Mac with OS X v10.7 (Lion), you need Java JDK 6 (for earlier versions of Mac OS X you will not need to perform this installation).
Cygwin (for Windows systems) To use Karmasphere Analyst on a Windows-based system, you will need to have Cygwin installed on the system prior to installing Karmasphere Analyst.

To install Cygwin, go to: http://karmasphere.com/cygwin.
Working with MapR For MapR M3/M5 distributions, you need the MapR client installed.

(For Windows-based systems, you need the 64-bit version of Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 or Server 2008.)
Operating Systems Supported Windows: XP, Vista, Windows 7, Server 2008. All of these can be either 32 or 64-bit.
MAC OS X: Version 10.5 and above.
Linux/Ubuntu: Version 10.0 and later (either 32 or 64-bit versions).
Installing Karmasphere Analyst Once registered, you will be sent an email with instructions. Email will also contain your registered email address and serial number which is required during install.
Windows Once Cygwin is installed and configured, download the Karmasphere Analyst installation package, which will be an .exe file. Double-click on the package file and follow the steps to install Karmasphere Analyst.
Mac OSX Download the Karmasphere Analyst installation package, which will be a .tgz file. Double-click on this package file to un-archive. Once un-archived, double-click on the Karmasphere Analyst Installer file and follow the steps to install.
Linux/Ubuntu Download the Karmasphere Analyst installation package, which will be a .sh file. Then, go to a Console window and enter the command 'sh KSanalyst-linux.sh'. Follow the steps to install.

NOTE: If you are upgrading Karmasphere Analyst for Amazon EMR from version 1.7 to version 1.8 and then uninstall version 1.8, the workspace directory in the Karmasphere Analyst installation folder may not be deleted. Karmasphere technical support recommends you manually delete.
